Automated customer service and online self-service options will be temporarily unavailable from June 27 – July 1. Please make payments before June 26, as the system will be unable to process payments during maintenance. Natural gas and electric emergencies can still be reported by phone.​ Thank you for your cooperation and we apologize for any inconvenience.

We are preparing to transition to a new customer billing system this summer that will bring new account features. P​lease be aware that all customers will receive a new account number and your bill will be redesigned as part of this system change.

In addition to a new account number, you can expect updated self-service options, additional language translations, easier program enrollments and more.

Please note if you currently pay your CenterPoint Energy bill directly through a bank or other financial institution's bill pay service, you will need to update your account number on or after July 2, 2024, for your payment(s) to be applied to your account. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​If you are enrolled in AutoPay​ (automatic payments) through your online CenterPoint Energy account, you do not need to take any additional action. Your AutoPay enrollment will automatically transition over to the new system.

Where can I find my new account number?  

H​ere is everything you need to know:

  • You will receive a new account number in July.
  • You may need to update your payment information in July. See the FAQs below for more information.
  • Your bill will have a ​new look an​d format in July.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ See below “Understanding your bill” video for an overview.​​
  • If you have an online account, you will need to reset your account password after July 2. You can do this by logging on to your online account as normal and you will be redirected.

Where can I find my new account number? 

In July, where can I find my new account number?

  • On your CenterPoint bill: located in the upper right corner.
  • On your online account: Online at CenterPointEnergy.com/MyAccount on the left side of your dashboard.​​​
  • By contacting Customer Service: Call the CenterPoint customer service number at, 1-800-227-1376. First, you will be asked to authenticate your account. When prompted say “What is my account number?”.  If you are unable to authenticate your account, you will need to speak with a live agent.​
