Check the thermostat

Ensure that your thermostat is working properly by checking for things like dead batteries or dust buildup that may be affecting proper readings. Make sure that your thermostat is set to heat when changing the temperature and set the new temperature higher than the current room temperature to check for functionality (usually at least 5 degrees higher). Check that your thermostat is not receiving false temperature readings due proximity or other factors.
