Eligibility: SBES is available to small businesses with a monthly electric demand of 400 kilowatts (kW) or less. If you are a nonprofit entity or multifamily facility, there is no kW restriction.
A multifamily facility is defined as a residential building containing 2+ units that have common space that is covered under a CenterPoint Energy commercial electric account. Buildings may include but are not limited to: apartment buildings, condominiums, cooperatives, duplexes, quadruplexes, townhomes, nursing homes and retirement service centers.
Examples of eligible energy-efficient equipment projects:
- Indoor/outdoor LED lighting
- LED exit signs
- Lighting occupancy sensors
- Refrigerator/freezer efficiencies
- Thermostats

Find a contractor
Select a SBES program-approved contractor to perform your assessment and help complete the application.
Get the assessment
Next, your contractor will tour your facility and generate an energy report detailing the costs, savings and discounts associated with a variety of suggested improvements. Read through the energy report and identify the improvements you would like to make.
Install and save
After the upgrades are made, the program discounts will automatically be applied to the amount you owe for the contractor's services. No waiting for a rebate check or additional forms to complete!
