Commercial & Industrial Standard Offer

Commercial & Industrial Standard Offer Program provides incentives to new or existing facilities for qualified energy efficiency upgrades.

Eligibility

Project Sponsors (participants) may be any company, contractor, or customer who installs energy efficient retrofit projects in commercial and industrial facilities . New construction projects that exceed minimum energy efficiency standards are also accepted in the program.

For multiple site projects, the total project must achieve a combined peak demand reduction of at least 250 kW.

As part of the Commercial and Small Industrial Program, a CenterPoint Energy Program Manager will help verify your eligibility, discuss documentation requirements, provide you with assistance and move your projects through to completion and the incentive payment process.

Commercial Load Management

Commercial Load Management provides incentives for quickly decreasing or shifting your operation’s energy usage when notified during the summer peak period.

Eligibility

Commercial Load Management Program is available to non-residential CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric distribution customers such as government agencies, educational institutions and non-profit organizations. Participants must be:

  • Able to shed a minimum of 100 kW when called after a 30-min notification, during program events (i.e., two test events and up to four unscheduled events triggered by ERCOT level 2 events or CNP system emergencies).
  • Equipped with an Interval Data Recorder or Smart Meter
  • Requires one-year commitment
  • There are no penalties for opting-out early

Incentives are based on the verified average load shed from all events and are awarded at the end of the program year. Earn up to $31.50 per kW of verified curtailed load each year of participation!

Commercial Coolsaver Program

Commercial Coolsaver Program provides commercial customers a FREE A/C tune-up from participating A/C Contractors.

Eligibility

This program is offered to commercial sites meeting the following requirements:

  • Must have a working central A/C or heat pump that is 25 tons or less and is at least one-year old
  • Must NOT have received a CoolSaver Tune-up in the last five years

Participation Process

CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric partners with a contractor to implement this program. After enrolling, our partner will contact you to schedule the service.

Data Center Energy Efficiency Program

Data Center Energy Efficiency Program helps operators maintain reliability, maximize uptime and earn cash incentives by implementing energy-efficiency measures.

Eligibility

Data centers are considered any space used to house IT systems infrastructure, such as network operations centers, server rooms, enterprise data centers and colocation facilities. The site must NOT be residential, transmission class (<69 kV) or a non-profit/government transmission class customer.

Pre-application approval and inspection are required for all data center projects , therefore, we recommend reaching out to us before your project planning process begins. This also allows us the opportunity to recommend improvements in your facility.

Healthcare Energy Efficiency Program

Healthcare Energy Efficiency Program (HEEP) is offered at no cost and provides technical support and cash incentives to hospitals, clinics, assisted living/nursing care, laboratories, and medical office buildings.

Eligibility

Site must NOT be Residential, Non-transmission class (<69 kV) nor non-profit/government transmission class customer.

Eligible facilities will receive free technical assistance including:

  • Energy savings calculations
  • Benchmarking
  • Energy assessments

Complete the following forms to participate and provide them to the HEEP Program Manager:

Retro-Commissioning

Retro-Commissioning Program provides a free engineering analysis (comparable to an ASHRAE Level 2 Audit) to identify no-cost or low-cost projects to reduce energy usage.

Eligibility

This program is offered to existing commercial buildings including manufacturing facilities, hospitals, educational campuses, and retail stores whose site must be at least 50,000 square feet of air-conditioned space and have a higher-than-average energy consumption.

To qualify, customers must install -- at their own expense -- specified low-cost measures to reduce operating and energy costs (i.e. HVAC temperature reset, outside air reduction, optimized HVAC start-up, LED lighting, etc.)

Participation Process

To get started, complete the program application form located here, and submit to CenterPoint’s Program Manager.

The completed form provides us your facilities electric usage data which we can compare to other facilities of similar age and size to determine if your site is a good candidate to participate in the program.

CenterPoint Energy partners with a contractor to implement this program. As part of the program, our partner will help verify your eligibility, discuss documentation requirements, provide you with technical assistance and move your projects through to completion and the incentive payment process.

Once your application is approved, select an RCx Agent from the list of approved agents; or, we’ll assign an agent to work with you.

SCORE/CitySmart

SCORE/CitySmart provides technical assistance, engineering analysis, performance benchmarking and incentives for upgrades to schools, universities, municipalities and non-profits.
