Disclaimer:

Merchandise and Home Service Plus® (HSP) arrears cannot form the basis for customer disconnection.

Service disconnection is a last resort. CenterPoint Energy may work with customers who are unable to pay their full account balance or full disconnect balance to determine whether a mutually acceptable payment arrangement can be established. A disconnection or service‑shutoff notice is issued prior to any disconnection action. Such notices are provided at least ten (10) days in advance during non–Cold Weather Rule periods (May 1 through September 30) and at least fifteen (15) days in advance during the Cold Weather Rule period (October 1 through April 30). A disconnection notice is issued only when a customer’s past due balance reaches $75 and is 60 days delinquent. Customers are not subject to disconnection until the past due balance reaches at least $175.

For customers seeking a payment arrangement, CenterPoint Energy will consider the customer’s financial circumstances and any extenuating circumstances of the household. Customers may be asked to disclose the amount they are able to contribute toward their outstanding balance. Determinations are made subject to applicable rules and regulations.
