CCF 1 CCF = 100 cubic feet of gas. This is how we measure your monthly usage.

MMBtu is the heating value of gas. Your meter measures in CCF (hundreds of cubic feet) which we multiply by the Btu factor to determine the heating capacity of the gas you used.

Customer Charge is a flat amount charged each month even if no gas is used. It recovers a portion of the non-gas costs necessary to reliably serve our customers and adhere to Commission requirements.

Administrative Charge #1 allows CenterPoint Energy to recover non-gas costs necessary to reliably serve our transportation customers.

Administrative Charge #2 allows CenterPoint Energy to recover non-gas costs associated with wireless telemetering equipment necessary to reliably serve our transportation customers.

Distribution Rate is a volumetric charge applied to gas usage. It recovers other non-gas costs not collected in the Customer Charge that are necessary to reliably serve our customers and adhere to Commission Requirements.

Demand Distribution Charge is a volumetric charge applied to contract demand. It recovers other non-gas costs not collected in the Customer Charge and Distribution charge that are necessary to reliably serve our customers and adhere to Commission Requirements.

Gas Supply Rate (GSR) or ​Gas Cost Adjustment (GCA) is the cost CenterPoint Energy pays for the gas it delivers to its customers.

Demand GSR is the demand component of the gas cost applied to the customer's contract demand.

Municipal Franchise Adjustment is a fee paid to the city for the gas company’s use of right-of-way in streets and alleys.

Combined pressure factor – necessary to adjust the volume for a meter with a standard index dependent on the amount of pressure on that line.

Weather Normalization Adjustment (WNA) reduces the effect of abnormally cold weather on customer bills and reduces the impact of revenue loss to the Company during unusually warm weather. It applies to bills mailed between November 1 and April 30.

Bill Determinant Rate Adjustment (BDA) allows the Company to recover the shortfall between the non-gas revenues in the previous BDA Evaluation Period and the non-gas revenues established in the Company's last rate case.

Base Rate Adjustment (BRA) covers costs of improving the gas distribution system.

Energy Efficiency Cost Recovery (EECR) is a charge for recovery of the incremental costs of promoting energy efficiency as ordered by the state Public Service Commission. .

Reimbursement of local franchise fee is a fee paid to the city for the company's use of right-of-way in streets and alleys. Reimbursement of gas utility pipeline tax is a pipeline transmission fee paid to the State of Texas.

Storage inventory charge allows the Company the opportunity to recover the regulated carrying cost of its investment in storage.

Reimbursement of state gross receipts tax is a tax imposed by the State of Texas on each utility company located in an incorporated city having a population of more than 1,000.

Reimbursement of gas utility pipeline tax is a pipeline transmission fee paid to the State of Texas.

GRIP Surcharge – The Gas Reliability Infrastructure Program (“GRIP”) is an interim rate adjustment allowed by Texas Statue (Texas Utilities Code §104.301) that allows utilities to recover their costs related to additional invested capital without filing a full rate case.
