Natural Gas Line Replacements in St. Louis Park - Project Updates

11/4 - Minnetonka Blvd

The crew will be completing the install and putting the new gas main into service along Minnetonka Blvd. Starting Monday 11/10/25 the restoration crew will come in to restore the Concrete Curb, Sidewalk, Pavement, and the soft service.


They anticipate the restoration to take approximately 3 weeks to complete. Depending on weather.


10/6 - Minnetonka Blvd

On Monday 9/29/2025, they worked with Centerpoint tappers and abandoned the main. Throughout the week they removed blacktop, concrete sidewalk, curb, removed pipe and installed new 12” steel.


Traffic control is set up on Minnetonka Blvd. from Xylon S to Texas Ave. S will be closed for East Bound Traffic for the duration of the project approximate 6 weeks. There is a detour set up.


9/15/25 - Minnetonka Blvd

Xylon Ave & Minnetonka Blvd, the roadway of Xylon Ave will be closed starting Wednesday 9/17 to Saturday 9/20


Monday 9/22 Minnetonka Blvd east bound traffic lane will be closed and traffic will only be flowing west bound. South side of the sidewalk and south side bike lane will be closed as well. This east bound lane closure will be in effect until November 1st.


What will CenterPoint Energy do?

From late May into fall 2024, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work on CenterPoint Energy’s natural gas infrastructure in St. Louis Park on select streets, including Minnetonka Boulevard from France Avenue S. to Salem Avenue S.


Equix Integrity updates our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. Michels Corporation will replace a small-diameter natural gas plastic main, move inside meters to the outside of homes by appointment, replace and/or reconnect natural gas service lines to the plastic main, and replace a large-diameter natural gas steel main. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work outside the limits of Hennepin County’s Minnetonka Boulevard Reconstruction project.


There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work. Please expect traffic impacts to include lane, parking, and sidewalk closures. Some road closures will occur along the roads intersecting Minnetonka Boulevard. More details will be on our website.
