HOUSTON – May 23, 2026 – As part of its ongoing storm preparations and response efforts for its customers, CenterPoint Energy continues to monitor weather conditions and prepare to respond to potential outages that could be caused by severe thunderstorms expected to impact the Greater Houston area starting Saturday morning through Monday. CenterPoint's enhanced workforce is prepared to respond to potential impacts to its electric and gas customers and to restore service safely and as quickly as possible. CenterPoint's Emergency Operations Center also remains activated to continue coordinating closely any and all response efforts with local government officials and agencies ahead of this weekend's severe weather.
“CenterPoint is prepared to respond day or night, throughout the weekend, for our customers who may be impacted by the severe weather forecasted across Greater Houston. We know that any outage is one too many for our customers, and we have taken a series of actions to be ready to restore service safely and as quickly as possible if outages occur, including pre-positioning frontline crews and enhanced resources across our system. - Maintaining an enhanced readiness posture: CenterPoint continues to monitor the evolving weather situation and coordinate storm response efforts through its Emergency Operations Center.
- Readying enhanced workforce and resources: Preparing frontline personnel to support potential restoration efforts both day and night throughout the weekend.
- Monitoring severe weather 24/7: The Meteorology team continues to track weather forecast developments, and CenterPoint is updating its preparedness and response efforts as conditions evolve.
- Coordinating with local officials: CenterPoint is coordinating with local officials and emergency management partners on continued preparedness and response efforts.
- Communicating proactively with customers: Providing safety and preparedness information directly with customers via email, phone and text, across social media platforms and other channels.

To help prepare for the potential impact of the severe weather, CenterPoint is encouraging its customers to enroll in Power Alert Service® to receive outage details, estimated restoration times and customer-specific restoration updates via phone call, text or email. As part of CenterPoint's overall emergency communications efforts, customers can stay up to date on local outages with CenterPoint's cloud-based Outage Tracker, available in English and Spanish, which allows customers to see outages and restoration times by county, city and zip code.
