Houston — Sept. 22, 2025 — While today marks the first day of fall, temperatures are still in the 90s and there are several more weeks remaining before the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season comes to an end. CenterPoint Energy continues to remain vigilant and closely monitor conditions in the Gulf and remains prepared to take immediate action in response to severe weather, if necessary.
The company urges customers across the Greater Houston area to stay aware and informed by signing up for Power Alert Service® to receive alerts when outages affect their homes or businesses, bookmarking the Outage Tracker to get up-to-date information on outages and restoration efforts and visiting CenterPoint’s new Action Center for quick access to storm preparation resources and real-time updates during severe weather, all accessible from any device.
“We’ve worked hard to strengthen our emergency preparedness efforts over the past year. More than 1,000 CenterPoint employees completed a total of 17,000 hours of advanced emergency response training ahead of this hurricane season. We’ve worked with local officials and emergency management teams to prepare for severe weather, participated in joint emergency response exercises and coordinated with community partners to provide backup generators to critical facilities and resource centers,” said Don Daigler, CenterPoint’s Senior Vice President of Emergency Preparedness and Response. “Safety is CenterPoint’s most vital responsibility, and all of us are laser-focused on being ready to support our customers when they need us most.”
“Though today is the official end of summer, history shows that hurricanes have the potential to impact us here along the Texas coast well into the fall season,” said Matt Lanza, CenterPoint’s Manager of Meteorology. “Our team continues to use a comprehensive suite of weather tools and data to monitor the tropics daily. These reports and updates not only keep our team informed, they also help us stay ready to respond appropriately and support our customers when severe weather threatens.” We are prepared to respond should the season become more active before it ends, and we urge our customers to stay alert and prepared as well.”
