Minneapolis – March 12, 2025 – With temperatures warming in Minnesota, CenterPoint Energy crews and contractors will be performing vital construction projects in several communities across the company's service territory in the coming weeks. CenterPoint respectfully requests that customers and the public remain alert and aware of crews working throughout the state and take action to prioritize their personal safety and the safety of others.
Planned improvement projects enable the company to continue to maintain the safety, resiliency and integrity of its natural gas distribution system to benefit the company's customers and communities. The infrastructure projects include system modernization efforts that will replace or upgrade existing natural gas lines, and relocation of company facilities to enable government projects such as constructing roads, bridges, drainage and other infrastructure.
“The safety of our workforce, customers and the community is our top priority. Equally important is the safety of our frontline workers and contractors who are on the ground executing the work every single day. As construction season begins to ramp up, our infrastructure projects could include construction traffic, crews working, and equipment nearby and on Minnesota roads. We want our customers to remain safe when living and traveling near construction zones for their wellbeing and the safety of our crews," said Brad Steber, CenterPoint's Vice President, Minnesota Gas. “These projects meaningfully invest in the safety, reliability and resiliency of our system to benefit our customers and their energy needs. We appreciate everyone taking actions to help keep themselves, their neighbors and our workers safe."
This year's construction activities are expected to continue through fall, weather permitting. CenterPoint will work to notify customers prior to the start of the company's construction activities for specific projects.

Safety tips near construction zones
CenterPoint encourages everyone to follow these tips for their safety and the safety of crews when traveling near construction zones:
- Work areas can change as activities progress, so stay aware of the location of crews, equipment, and cones and barriers.
- Remain outside of work areas at all times, and don't disregard cones or other construction barriers.
- Follow the directions on construction signage and from crew members, such as traffic flaggers. Traffic control measures including cones, barriers and signage can change regularly, so stay alert.
- If driving or cycling near construction activities, make sure to slow down and remain outside of construction barriers.
- Avoid using a cell phone to minimize distractions and remain alert and aware of construction activities.
