Houston – June 25, 2023 – CenterPoint Energy's commitment to its customers remains as crews continue their around-the-clock efforts to restore power to the remaining customers impacted by this week's severe weather events. Today, crews are focused on the hardest-hit areas affected by Wednesday's record-setting winds and lightning.
Within CenterPoint Energy's northwest service territory, a large contingency of crews is working in hard-to-access areas. Restorations in these locations include addressing transformer and single-customer outages. In the Westfield area, on a particular outage with more than 3,000 customers originally out following Wednesday night's storms, crews are working to restore the remaining approximately 600 customers. In the Pinehurst area, on a particular outage with more than 32,000 customers originally out, crews are working to restore the remaining approximately 3,000 out. This work is requiring tree trimmers, internal crews and contract crews to work within areas inaccessible by trucks and large equipment.
As of
3 p.m. CT, there are approximately 3,400 customers without power across the Greater Houston area, including those associated with Wednesday night's severe weather and those who lost power Friday night.
The company is working to restore power to all impacted customers and anticipates those remaining customers who are currently experiencing an outage will have power again by this evening.
“We appreciate our customers' patience and understanding as we know this has been a difficult time for many, especially those who have gone without power since Wednesday," said Lynnae Wilson, Senior Vice President, Electric Business at CenterPoint Energy. “We would like to recognize the countless people who have answered the call during our area's time of need, including city and county officials and emergency responders. CenterPoint Energy's employees will continue to work around-the-clock until every customer is restored. It is a privilege to work with such a dedicated team."
During the extreme hot weather conditions and while some customers might still be without power, the company recommends customers follow city and county officials' guidance and the information they are providing on
cooling centers.
CenterPoint Energy urges customers to always stay at least 35 feet away from downed power lines and damaged electric utility equipment and report them to the company at 713-207-2222. For latest information on power outages:
