Smart Thermostat Rebate

CenterPoint Energy's smart thermostat rebate helps you save $50 on one of the easiest ways to save energy and money.

For every one-degree reduction in your thermostat setting, you can save 3 to 5 percent on heating bills. A smart thermostat provides easier, greater temperature control.

Thermostat requirements:

  • Must be Wifi learning (Smart) and currently manufactured: examples of eligible thermostats (PDF)
  • Can be installed by a dealer with or without a heating system installation
  • Or can be purchased and installed by a customer
  • Rebate cannot exceed purchase price of the product 

Work with your local dealer or retailer to select the best thermostat for your needs.

How the Program Works

If equipment is installed by a dealer/mechanical contractor:

  1. Review the Terms and Conditions.
  2. Buy and install the best qualifying thermostat for your home between Jan. 1 - Dec. 31.
  3. Have your heating dealer submit a rebate application for your installation (including electronic copy of the dated invoice) through our online rebate processing system. Note: The thermostat rebate is processed through our heating system rebate program.
  4. Receive your rebate check within eight weeks of when we receive the completed rebate application.

If you install the equipment:

  1. Review the Terms and Conditions.
  2. Buy and install the new thermostat.
  3. Complete a rebate application and include a copy of your dated sales invoice from the dealer or retailer (showing the brand, complete model number and serial number of equipment purchased) to your rebate application form. 

    Mail the completed application, including required signatures along with the dated sales invoice within the calendar year of installation to:

  4. Receive your rebate check within eight weeks of when we get the completed rebate application.


Note: This rebate offer is only available for Minnesota heating customers who receive natural gas service from CenterPoint Energy. Rebates are paid on a first-come, first-served basis. ​

All rebates must be submitted by Dec. 31 of the year installed.
