Eligible thermostats

CenterPoint Energy's thermostat rebate helps your customers save up to $50 on one of the easiest ways to sav​e ener​​gy and money.

For every one-degree reduction in your thermostat setting, you can save 3 to 5 percent on heating bills. A thermostat provides easier, greater temperature control.​

Getting started

  • Review our eligible thermostat resource guide listed above so you are familiar with models you sell that qualify for a rebate.​
    • There is a limit of one thermostat rebate per gas service address.
  • This rebate offer is only available for MINNESOTA residential heating customers who receive natural gas service from CenterPoint Energy.
  • ​The thermostat can be installed by a dealer with or without a heating system, or you can purchase the thermostat and install it yourself.

Note: The equipment must be new and listed on the manufacturer’s current website. Refurbished models are not eligible fo​r a rebate.

After installation and before you complete a rebate application

​Purchased and installed by a dealer 

Step 1: Contact your dealer first 

  • ​​Contact the dealer that installed your thermostat to inquire if their company is submitting the rebate on your behalf, on CenterPoint Energy’s dealer-only online rebate form. Customers receive their rebate faster when the dealer submits the rebate online. 
  • Provide your email address to the dealer if you want to receive system generated emails about the status of your rebate submission. 

Step 1A: Paper application 

  • ​Complete a paper application if the dealer does not submit the rebate on your behalf. Enter your email address if you want system generated emails about the status of your rebate submission.
  • Print out the completed application and obtain required signatures.
  • Confirm that the invoice includes the required information:
    • ​The receipt must describe the thermostat equipment that was purchased, including the brand and complete model number of the thermostat and the dealer information. The invoice must match the information on the application. A packing list or recall invoice are not acceptable forms for proof of purchase. 
    • IMPORTANT: Obtain a revised invoice if it doesn’t contain all the required information. 
  • ​Once the paper application is complete with the required documentation

Step 1: Collect the information needed for rebate processing

  • Decide if you are going to submit the rebate online or complete a paper application.
  • Confirm that the retailer receipt/invoice includes the required information:
    • The receipt must describe the thermostat equipment that was purchased, includingthe retailer information. The invoice must match the information on the application. A packing list or recall invoice are not acceptable forms for proof of purchase. 
    • IMPORTANT: Obtain a revised invoice if it doesn’t contain all the required information.

Step 2: Complete a rebate application 

   Online submission

  • ​​Receive your rebate faster by submitting the application and dated electronic sales invoice online. You will receive your rebate faster if submitted online.
  • You will receive a confirmation number when the rebate has been successfully submitted. Keep this number for future reference.
Submit rebate online

   Paper submission

  • ​Complete a paper application if you do not submit the rebate in the customer thermostat online form. Enter your email address if you want system generated emails about the status of your rebate submission. 
  • Print out the completed application and sign the application.
  • Once the paper application is complete with the required documentation

Step 2: Rebate processing

  • Rebate application must be submitted in the same calendar year that the equipment was installed. See Terms and Conditions for complete information about the rebate deadline.
  • From the time that CenterPoint Energy receives the completed rebate application please allow up to 10 weeks for rebate to be processed. ​
