An A/C Tune-Up can help increase your air conditioner's cooling output and efficiency. An independent and certified technician will assess your system, identify opportunities for improvement and implement enhancements to help your unit run at its best.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Available to residential customers in the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric service area (excluding apartments)
  • Central A/C or heat pump must be at least one year old and currently operational
  • Have not received an A/C Tune-Up in the past five years

HVAC System Replacement Incentives​

​Replacing your HVAC system with a high-efficiency or ENERGY STAR®-certified model can help reduce your energy use and qualify you for valuable residential incentives. Incentives are applied directly to your installation invoice when you work with a participating contractor.

  • CenterPoint offers incentives that start at $200 and may increase, depending on your installation
  • Eligible equipment for CenterPoint Energy HVAC incentives starts at 15.2 SEER2 (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) – the current minimum SEER2 standard in Texas is 14.0
  • Central A/C, heat pumps and mini-split systems are all eligible for incentives

Energy saving tips to help maximize HVAC efficiency

Even if you're not ready to replace your system, you can still help to improve the performance of your system and make your system more energy efficient:

  • Clean or replace filters monthly (or at least every 3 months)
  • Keep fans, ducts and vents clean and unblocked
  • Ensure the condensation drain is clear
  • Schedule annual maintenance with a certified HVAC professional
  • Ask about duct testing—sealing and insulating ducts can improve efficiency by up to 20% or more*
