What is a ZEVAC unit?

As part of a comprehensive strategy to minimize methane emissions from its pipeline system, CenterPoint Energy is deploying an innovative new technology called Zero Emission Vacuum and Compressor (ZEVAC). Last week on this project, crews used a ZEVAC unit to remove natural gas from one pipe and transfer it into another. This process avoids the need to release gas into the air. Nearby residents may hear some additional noise from the ZEVAC unit’s operation. For more information on ZEVAC and its benefits, please click here.
