Project Description: In 2019, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, replaced natural gas mains and connected service lines to these mains in Wayzata along County Road 101 and Gardner Street E. at Highway 12.

This year CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will resume construction along Wayzata Boulevard E. at County Road 15 (Gleason Lake Road) from March 30 to late June. Michels Corporation will replace natural gas main and connecting natural gas service lines to the new mains. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.

Connecting service lines to the new mains: This may include service line replacement and relocating gas meters from inside the home to outside. (The timing of this phase depends on updates related to COVID-19.) Customers will experience a short disruption of gas service as the crews are installing the new gas service line. Crews may have to dig in the ground on your property in the utility easement to complete the task of service and main distribution line replacement.

Traffic impacts: Although no major road closures are anticipated for this work, there will be lane closures with two-way traffic being maintained on Gleason Lake Road at Wayzata Boulevard. Traffic on Highway 12 will not be impeded. Pedestrian traffic crossing Gleason Lake Road at Highway 12 will be detoured temporarily to County Road 101, Luce Line Trail and Vicksburg Lane within the project’s duration.

12/13/2019

Project Description

CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, will be installing natural gas pipeline via directional boring at two locations along TH 12: approximately adjacent to Gardner St. E. northbound along Central Ave. N. (CR 101) to Hollybrook Rd., as well as the intersection of Wayzata Blvd. W & Bushaway Rd. along CR 15 until continuing approximately 1,200 feet East along Wayzata Blvd. E. in the City of Wayzata.

Construction will happen in two parts: Part 1 will take place at County Road 101 and Highway 12 from June 20 to approx. mid-July 2019. Part 2 will take place at County Road 15. The start date and duration will be determined between CenterPoint Energy and the municipalities.

What are the estimated traffic impacts?

  • Residents and local businesses will have access to their properties.
  • Construction will occur in segments along the construction route, rather than all at once. Lane restrictions are anticipated in areas where active construction is occurring and are necessary to keep both the public and construction personnel safe.
  • CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Q3 Contracting, will restore the areas affected by CenterPoint Energy’s construction—typically the boulevard, lawn, sidewalk and road.
