Shorewood Paving Project - Project Updates

In the week of July 26, the crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, replaced the project’s natural gas mains. This week, they will finish connecting the natural gas service lines to the new mains.

Crews from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will follow to restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work, including hard and soft surfaces. On the soft surfaces such as boulevards and lawns, various erosion control measures keep the restored area moist, hold seed in the soil, and enhance seed germination. If an erosion blanket is needed it is secured in place with staples. The mesh is a wood fiber that will completely degrade. Prior to mowing the restored area, remove any loose staples that secured the blanket.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, replaced the natural gas mains on the following streets: Brand Circle, Christmas Lane, 62nd Street W., Church Road, Grant Lorenz Road, Wildrose Lane, and Noble Road. The crews have been replacing the mains on Idlewild Path, Suburban Drive, Rustic Way, Manor Road, and Knightsbridge Road.

The service lines have been connected on Brand Circle and Christmas Lane. The service line work will begin this week on 62nd Street W. and Church Road.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, replaced the natural gas mains and service lines on Brand Circle and Christmas Lane. They are currently replacing the natural gas mains and service lines on 62nd Street W. and Church Road. In the middle of the week of July 5, they will move to Grant Lorenz Road and Noble Road.

Beginning in the week of June 14 and lasting into the summer of 2021, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in Shorewood along these roads in the following order: the intersection of Brand Circle and Christmas Lane; 62nd Street W. from Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail to east of Church Road; Church Road just south of 62nd Street W.; Grant Lorenz Road from Edgewood Road to Noble Road; Idlewild Path from Rustic Way to Suburban Drive; Manor Road from to 19915 to 20425 Manor Road; Radisson Road from 21125 to 20465 Radisson Road; and Shore Road just south of Radisson Road.

While Michels Corporation will replace the natural gas main, connect the natural gas service lines to the new main, and move any inside residential meters outside, Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work outside the limits of the City of Shorewood’s 2021 Mill and Overlay. The crews will work on one side of the road at a time. Parking will be restricted on the side of the road where the crews will work.

For most of the project’s streets, flaggers will be placed to help direct traffic. The crews will close Grant Lorenz Rd., Cathcart Dr. at 62nd St. W., and Idlewild Path to through traffic at separate times. For the Grant Lorenz Rd. closure, detour signs will lead drivers to Edgewood Rd., Howards Point Rd., and Smithtown Rd. For the Cathcart Dr. closure, detour signs will lead drivers to Cathcart Dr., Smithtown Rd., Strawberry Ln., and 62nd St. W. Idlewild Path will be closed to through traffic.
