New Hope - Lions Park Neighborhood - Project Updates

CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors are progressing on the job. This week, crews from Michels Corporation plan to finish the project’s natural gas main work. Crews from Q3 Contracting will follow to restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will finish the remaining service line connections on Oregon Avenue N. and will transition to the rest of Maryland Avenue.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, have connected the natural gas service lines to the new mains on Oregon Avenue N. north of 40th Avenue N. and on Nevada, Maryland and Louisiana Avenues N. from 40th Avenue N. to Lions Park. The crews will continue to work on the project’s routes south of Lions Park.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, have replaced the project’s mains north of 38th Avenue N. They are currently connecting a main at 38th Avenue N. and Maryland Avenue N. They estimate that by the end of the week of April 19, they will have replaced the project’s remaining mains on Maryland and Louisiana Avenues N. from 38th to 36th Avenues N. and on 38th Avenue N. from Louisiana to Oregon Avenues N.

The crews are also connecting the natural gas service lines to the new mains on the north side of the job.

On Monday, March 29, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will begin replacing the project’s natural gas mains. They will start on the west side of Oregon Avenue N. from 41st ½ Avenue N. south to Maryland Avenue N. No vehicular or pedestrian traffic will be obstructed.

For the majority of the project, lane and parking closures may occur where active construction is happening. The crews will close a portion of Nevada Avenue N. between 41st and 41st ½ Avenues N. to through traffic. During this closure, detour signs will lead drivers to Oregon Avenue N. via 40th or 41st Avenues N. The crews will close a portion of Louisiana Avenue N. at Markwood Drive N. to through traffic. Access to driveways and parking lots will remain open. Detour signs will lead drivers to 36th Avenue N., Douglas Drive N., and 38th Avenue N. Parking will be restricted on Louisiana Avenue N. from 36th to 38th Avenues N.

More details will be added closer to the project’s start date.

From spring to summer 2021, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in New Hope along the following streets: Oregon Avenue N. between 38th and 41st ½ Avenues N.; Nevada Avenue N. between 39th ½ and 40th Avenues N.; Louisiana and Maryland Avenues N. between 36th and 40th Avenues N.; 36th Avenue N. between Nevada and Louisiana Avenues N.; 38th Avenue N. between Oregon and Louisiana Avenues N.; and 39th and 39th ½ Avenues N. between Oregon and Maryland Avenues N.

While Michels Corporation will replace the natural gas main, connect the natural gas service lines to the new main, and move any inside residential meters outside, Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.
