Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, have replaced the natural gas main on Plymouth Avenue N. from Penn to Sheridan Avenues N. The crews will be working on Saturdays until the project’s completion.
This week, the crews will begin connecting natural gas service lines to the new main in this area. They will contact the homeowners to schedule appointments to move any inside meters outside and/or to connect existing service lines to the new main. For these connections, natural gas will be temporarily shut off for approximately two or three hours before the crews will relight the residents’ pilot lights.
On Monday, April 5, the following traffic plan will take place: On Plymouth Avenue N. between Penn and Sheridan Avenues N., both bike lines will be closed and diverted to the road. While the north sidewalk will remain closed, the south end will be open. Parking will be restricted on the north and south sides of Plymouth Avenue N. and within 100 feet of each cross street.
From Tuesday, April 6 to Saturday, April 10, the following traffic plan will take place: On Plymouth Avenue N. between Sheridan and Vincent Avenues N., both bike lines will be closed and diverted to the road. While the north sidewalk will remain closed, the south end will be open. Parking will be restricted on the north and south sides of Plymouth Avenue N. and within 100 feet of each cross street.
This week, the crews will replace a steel natural gas main on Plymouth Avenue N. at Russell Avenue N. Parking will be restricted 150 feet east and west of Russell Avenue N.

On Monday, March 29, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will begin replacing the project’s natural gas mains. For the week of March 29, the crews will replace the main on Plymouth Avenue N. between Penn and Sheridan Avenues N., working west. No parking signs have been posted but will not be enforced until Monday, March 29. During active construction, the bike lane, sidewalk, and street parking will be closed on the north side of Plymouth Avenue N.
Project Description
Beginning on March 29 and lasting into late spring or early summer 2021, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in Minneapolis along Plymouth Avenue N. between Washburn and Queen Avenues N. While Michels Corporation will replace the natural gas main, connect the natural gas service lines to the new main, and move any inside residential meters outside, Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.

During this time, lane or parking closures may occur. This project will be done in coordination with the City of Edina’s Melody Lake A & B, Birchcrest C and Grandview A Neighborhood Roadway Reconstruction project.
Traffic Impacts
The crews will work on a few blocks at a time. In areas of active construction, parking will be restricted on both sides of Plymouth Avenue N. and on both sides of the cross streets just north and south of Plymouth Avenue N.
From Vincent to Queen Avenues N., the crews will work on the north side of Plymouth Avenue N. for the main replacement. To connect the service lines to the new main, the crews will alternate working on the north and south sides of Plymouth Avenue N. in this area. One sidewalk will remain open at a time. On whichever side the crews work, the alley entrances will be closed at Plymouth Avenue N.
Traffic will be shifted on Plymouth Avenue N. and on the cross streets. For a short duration, the crews will work on the south side of Plymouth Avenue N. at Washburn Avenue N. and at Queen Avenue N.
