Overview

For several weeks this spring 2023, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in the Phillips Neighborhood in Minneapolis along 27th Street E. from 15th to 17th Avenues S. While a natural gas contractor will replace a large-diameter natural gas steel main, Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by the gas crew’s work. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work.

Marking utilities

CenterPoint Energy will contact Gopher State One Call 811 to locate public underground utilities such as water, sewer, and cable. You will see markings such as spray paint and utility flags. They will be color-coordinated to indicate a separate utility.

Steel main work

To weld pieces of the steel main together, the crew needs to open trench the road. Although the traffic impacts are to be determined, please expect lane, parking, and/or road closures for one to a few blocks at a time. The crews will work with businesses on maintaining access to and from driveways and parking lots. Restoration will follow.

We hope to minimize the disruption as much as possible. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we replace our infrastructure. We wish you a great season.

Past work in 2020

In 2020, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors worked in the Phillips Neighborhood on select streets between Elliot and Longfellow Avenues and between 25th and 31st Streets E. They replaced small-diameter natural gas plastic mains, connected service lines to the mains, moved inside meters outside, and restored the areas affected by their work outside the limits of the City of Minneapolis’s Street Resurfacing Program.
