On Monday, April 10, two crews from CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, will begin work on France Avenue S. at either end of the project.
Within the week of April 10, one crew will replace the main and the service lines running to this main at Glendale Terrace. They will also move inside meters outside by appointment. During this time, the crew will close the eastern lane and sidewalk on France Avenue while shifting and maintaining two-way traffic and while detouring pedestrian traffic to Drew Avenue S.
For approximately three weeks beginning on Monday, April 10, another crew will replace service lines and move inside meters outside by appointment along France Avenue S., starting at Excelsior Boulevard. They anticipate that their traffic impacts will include parking, lane, and sidewalk closures.
The crew will detour the sidewalk on France Avenue between Excelsior Boulevard and 38th Street W., closing the parking lane and posting “No Parking” signs on the west side of France Avenue. They will close the parking lane and post “No Parking” signs on the east side of France Avenue between 38th Street W. and Glendale Terrace.
After the service line and meter work, the gas crew will backfill the excavated areas with dirt or gravel. This will be temporary before the restoration crew comes.
A crew from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will follow to restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. On boulevards and lawns, they will refill the areas with black dirt, grass seed, and netting that degrades over about four months. Prior to mowing the restored area, remove any loose staples that secured the netting. For photo examples, please visit our Restoration Practices page.
For several weeks starting Monday, April 10, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in the Linden Hills Neighborhood in Minneapolis on France Avenue S. from Excelsior Boulevard to 44th Street W. Equix Integrity will update our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. Michels Corporation will replace a natural gas main, move inside meters to the outside of homes, and replace or reconnect service lines as needed. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work.
