Beginning in the week of Monday, April 7, a utility crew will begin replacing the natural gas main under the east sidewalk of Logan Avenue North between 26th Avenue North and 27th Avenue North. We anticipate that the main replacement will take approximately two weeks. Service line and meter work will begin after gas main replacements.


During this time, street parking will be restricted on both sides of Logan Avenue North within the work zone. The east sidewalk on Logan Ave N will be closed while the west sidewalk will remain open. A closure of Logan Avenue North will be present within the one-block work zone. Resident access will be maintained at the intersection of 27th Avenue North.


CenterPoint would like to remind our customers to stay alert and aware as construction efforts begin to ramp up. Slow down when traveling near construction zones to help keep yourself, your neighbors and our workforce safe.

3/25/2025

Beginning Monday, March 31, the natural gas infrastructure on Knox Avenue North will be replaced between 27th Avenue North and 29th Avenue North. Construction will largely take place on the east side of Knox Avenue North. We anticipate the gas main installation to take two weeks, with service line and meter work to follow.


For the next two weeks, parking will be restricted on both sides of Knox Avenue North. The east sidewalk will be closed, while the west sidewalk remains open and accessible.

3/17/2025

As temperatures begin to rise, CenterPoint anticipates the beginning of the 2025 construction season. Beginning the first week of April, utility crews will be present in the Jordan West Neighborhood to resume improvements to the natural gas infrastructure in the area. Permanent restoration for those who received temporary solutions in the winter will also be in the area in the coming weeks.

1/15/2024

Sections of modernized gas mains within the Jordan Neighborhood were installed through December of 2024. Additional sections of main as well as service work remain to be completed and work will begin as weather permits in 2025. Updates will be made prior to construction resuming.

Natural gas main installation in the Jordan West neighborhood continues throughout this week. The crew is on N. Sheridan Avenue and will be moving to Washburn Avenue N. in a few days.


As utility construction within the 2024 scope of this project is completed, restoration crews will be on site to perform temporary restoration. Restoration crews typically arrive a few weeks after the completion of main and service work. Temporary restoration includes ensuring sidewalks are prepped for safe snow removal throughout the winter.

11/22/2024

Construction in Jordan West began on Wednesday, Nov. 20 this week. The crew began to drill for plastic main replacement just north of W. Broadway on N. Sheridan Avenue. The construction will move north towards Lowry Avenue N. for the next few weeks.

What will CenterPoint Energy do?

From Monday, November 11 as long as weather permits, CenterPoint Energy authorized contractors will replace natural gas mains in the Jordan Neighborhood of Minneapolis. Following the main replacement, crews will work to move inside meters outside by appointment and replace and/or reconnect service lines to the new main. There will also be scattered service work throughout the area that may not be related to the new main.


For three months in the spring of 2025, with an anticipated start date in April, large diameter steel gas main will be replaced along N. Sheridan Avenue between N. 30th Avenue and N. 26th Avenue.


Equix Integrity updates our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. Michels Corporation will replace a small-diameter natural gas plastic main, move inside meters to the outside of homes by appointment, replace and/or reconnect natural gas service lines to the plastic main, and replace a large-diameter natural gas steel main. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.


There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work. Please expect traffic impacts to include lane, parking, and sidewalk closures along with some roads closed to through traffic.
