Minneapolis - Field, Regina, Northrop Neighborhoods - Project Updates

Columbus Ave from 48 ST S to the South 100’ from Thursday 12/4/2025 until Friday 12/12/2025 will be closed to allow the crew to run a tool to clean the pipe. We will also pressure test the pipe from this Bell hole as well as do the final tie in there. That bell hole will be temp restored with concrete and final restoration in the spring.

Columbus Ave from 52 ST S to the North 100’ from Friday 12/8/2025 until Friday 12/12/2025 will be closed to allow the crew to tie the new 24” gas line to feed the existing distribution system. That bell hole will be temp restored with concrete and final restoration in the spring.

54 ST E and Columbus Ave S intersection will be closed Monday 12/8/2025 for testing and final tie. Temporary restoration will be completed and the intersection opened no later than Friday 12/19/2025

The Steel Crew is installing pipe South of 53 ST E. moving South towards 54 ST E on Columbus Ave S. Pipe installation will be completed by Monday 12/8staged on the block North of the block we are installing on and restoration will follow behind them. Temporary restoration with concrete on Columbus Ave S has begun South of 52 ST E and working towards 54 ST E to be completed by Friday 12/19/2025. It will be restored in black top in the Spring of 2026.

Restoration is complete on Columbus Ave S. between 48th ST and 50th ST and the road has been opened.

The Steel Crew is installing pipe South of 52 ST E. moving South towards 54 ST E on Columbus Ave S. Pipe will be staged on the block North of the block we are installing on and restoration will follow behind them. We are anticipating completion of installing pipe on Friday 12/12/2025, with restoration following. Paving plants are closed, so Columbus Ave. from 52 ST E through 54 ST E will be in concrete. Also a bell hole South of 48 ST E will also be in concrete as that is our final tie in. It will be restored in black top in the Spring of 2026.

Curbs were poured Wednesday 11/12/2025 on Columbus Ave S just North of 50 ST E. Minneapolis will pave on the South end of the 4900 block through the 50 ST intersection on Thursday 11/20/2025. The 4900 block will be opened Friday 11/21/2025

Pipe will be staged on the block North of the block we are installing on and restoration will follow behind them. We are anticipating completion of installing pipe on Friday 12/12/2025, with restoration following. Much of the project S of Minnehaha Creek will be restored in concrete because paving plants will close. It will be restored in black top in the Spring of 2026.

The bore pipe has been pulled in under Minnehaha creek. We will be connecting the bore pipe at 50 ST E and Columbus from Wednesday 11/5/2025 through Monday 11/10/2025.

Restoration between 48 ST E and 50 ST E will begin with Q3 prepping the road for black top beginning Thursday 11/6/2025 Minneapolis Paving crews will pave on Wednesday 11/12/2025, and Columbus Ave S will be opened Thursday 11/13/2025 for full access.

The Steel Crew will move South of 51 ST E on Monday 11/10/2025 to continue installing pipe from the South side of the bore. We will open trench moving towards 54 ST E on Columbus.

We currently have the large bore rig set up on Columbus Ave S between 51 ST E and 52 ST E 24” pipe is strung up and welded from 48 ST E to 50 ST E.

The bore has been stemmed out. We will have a few days of reaming before we pull the pipe in. We will be pulling the bore pipe in Tuesday November 4th, followed by a paving crew between 48 ST E and 50 ST E. We will have to open a bell hole at the end of the project just South of 48 ST for our final tie in.

We currently have the large bore rig set up on Columbus Ave S between 51 ST E and 52 ST E 24” pipe is strung up and welded from 48 ST E to 50 ST E.

The bore ran into softer material, so we have been delayed again. A duck bill steering head will arrive Monday and we will continue drilling. We are approximately half way on the bore.

We currently have the large bore rig set up on Columbus Ave S between 51 ST E and 52 ST E 24” pipe is strung up and welded from 48 ST E to 50 ST E.

We are experiencing long delays as the bore rig has ran into a large rock shelf. At this point I do not know how long of a delay this will cause. We will continue working six days a week to lessen the length of this delay.

We will begin boring the Minnehaha creek on Thursday October 9th from 52 ST S to 48 ST S.

Temporary sound barriers will be installed Thursday October 9th on Columbus between 51 ST E and 52 ST E

Columbus Ave S will remained closed until Saturday 10-18

On Wednesday 9/24/2025 Columbus Ave S will be closed between 51 ST E and 52 ST E until Saturday November 1st.

Currently Columbus Ave S is Closed between 48th ST E and 49th ST E We will be closing East West Bound traffic on 54 ST E Thursday 9/4/25. There is also a posted detour to follow.

For a few months this fall, CenterPoint Energy will replace natural gas infrastructure in Field, Regina, and Northrup Neighborhoods. Updates regarding the utility crew's location, traffic impacts and other details will be posted here regularly.

Before construction begins, an authorized contractor will be in the area to locate sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. This is an important safety measure CenterPoint is required to take. It is possible a technician performing this work will need to access your home to locate sewer lines. Ask to see CenterPoint Energy identification before letting anyone in your home.
