CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors finished CenterPoint Energy’s project. While Michels Corporation replaced the natural gas lines this season, Q3 Contracting restored the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work outside the limits of Hennepin County’s road maintenance project. Construction is occurring in this neighborhood by contractors for Hennepin County. For more information on their project, please visit their website regarding their road maintenance projects. CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Q3 Contracting, will restore the areas affected by CenterPoint Energy’s work outside the limits of the county’s project. Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, are finishing the project’s natural gas work this week on Broadway Avenue and Golden Valley Road between Xerxes Avenue N. and Highway 94. On Broadway Avenue, restoration is anticipated to begin in the week of August 24 with crews from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor.

Since late July 2020, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, have been connecting natural gas service lines to the new mains. They will transition to West Broadway.

Tomorrow on Wednesday, June 24, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will have finished replacing the project’s natural gas main. This week the crews will begin connecting the natural gas service lines to the new main.
Crews from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, have temporarily restored the road and sidewalks for traffic. These areas will be permanently restored after the service line connections are complete.

Project description: From the week of May 18 to mid- or late summer 2020, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will perform work on CSAH 66 and 81 between Highway 94 and Xerxes Avenue N. Michels Corporation will replace natural gas mains and connect service lines to the new mains. Crews from Q3 Contracting will permanently restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.
Installing replacement gas mains: According to
the Governor of Minnesota’s order, gas main replacement is an essential work function. This allows for the modernization of related gas facilities. The gas main work requires excavations in various locations in the right-of-way (front yard) to facilitate the installation work.
Connecting service lines to the new mains: As social distancing practices and proper use of PPE, face masks and gloves have become normalized and as customers are willing to allow properly protected personnel into their homes to complete required work to modernize gas facilities, which is essential work, CenterPoint Energy authorized contractors will enter customer homes to complete work only with customer permission. The purpose of
our flyer is to advise that with customer permission, crews will now enter homes to complete necessary gas meter work. If you choose not to allow crews to enter your home, gas service will not be interrupted, and we will reschedule for a time better suited to concerns you may have. Crews will continue to replace service lines. Crews may have to dig in the ground on your property in the utility easement and next to your home to complete the task of service line replacement.
Traffic impacts: Although the crews will maintain eastbound and westbound traffic maintained on CSAH 66 and 81, lane shifts will be expected. Parking will be restricted on the side where the crews are working. The crews will temporarily close half a block on Irving, James and Queen Avenues N. at CSAH 66. These restrictions are anticipated in areas where active construction is occurring and are necessary to keep both the public and construction personnel safe. Local access will be maintained.
