Since the snow has delayed CenterPoint Energy’s concrete restoration, the crews will temporarily restore the sidewalks with asphalt. In 2021, they will return to permanently restore the sidewalks with concrete. They will also put down winter erosion control on any yards or boulevards that were affected by our work. In 2021, the crews will return to restore the areas with black dirt and seed.
Like in previous years, CenterPoint Energy’s practice is to provide temporary restoration when the weather isn’t conducive for permanent restoration, before returning the following year.

Crews from Michels Corporation finished the project’s natural gas work last week. Crews from Q3 Contracting anticipate that the last of the project’s concrete sidewalks should be restored this week or next, pending weather. The restoration of the yards and boulevards will follow immediately after the sidewalk restoration.

This week, crews from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, are beginning to restore the sidewalks on the east side of Arthur Street NE between 29th and Lowry Avenues NE. Approximately one week after the east sidewalk cures, the crews will restore the west side of Arthur Street NE in this area.

CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors are continuing to work in the Audubon Park Neighborhood project. Crews from Michels Corporation are continuing to connect the natural gas service lines to the new main along Garfield Street NE. Within the next two weeks, the crews will have finished the service line connections on this street. Crews from Q3 Contracting are following Michels Corporation’s route, restoring the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.

Within this week or the week of August 31, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will finish the project’s natural gas main installations for the 2020 calendar year. The crews are also continuing to connect natural gas service lines to the new mains.
As of the week of August 24, CenterPoint Energy will postpone the natural gas work on Ulysses and Hayes Streets NE between Lowry and 28th Avenues NE. The City of Minneapolis will be performing its Sidewalk Repair Program on these streets. We apologize for any confusion and appreciate your patience. Communication will be sent closer to the time when CenterPoint Energy replaces the natural gas lines on these streets.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, are currently connecting the natural gas service lines on Cleveland Street NE, Arthur Street NE and Brighton Avenue. The crews are finishing the service line connections on Cleveland Street NE. They have been connecting service lines on the 2500 and 2600 blocks of Arthur Street NE and Brighton Avenue.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, have replaced the natural gas mains on most of the project’s route. In the week of August 17, they will replace the main on Lowry Avenue NE between Garfield and Ulysses Streets NE and in the project’s northeast corner. In the week of August 24, the crews will replace the mains on Ulysses and Hayes Streets NE.

On Lowry Avenue NE from McKinley to Arthur Streets NE, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, replaced the natural gas main and connected the natural gas service lines to the new main. They also replaced the natural gas mains on Cleveland Street NE between St. Anthony Parkway and Lowry Avenue NE.
This week the crews are replacing the mains on Arthur Street NE between 29th and Lowry Avenues NE; 29th Avenue NE between Garfield Street NE and St. Anthony Parkway; and Lowry Avenue NE west of Arthur Street NE. They are also connecting the service lines on Cleveland Street NE before moving to Arthur Street NE.
In the week of August 10, the crews will begin replacing the main on Garfield Street NE between 29th and 26th Avenues NE.

This week and next, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, are replacing the natural gas main on one side of Cleveland Street NE. On whichever side of the road the crews are working, there will be no parking with 24 hours’ notice.
A lane shift is currently in place on Lowry Avenue NE between McKinley and Garfield Streets NE. Parking is restricted on both sides of Lowry Avenue NE during active construction.
Next week, the crews will begin connecting the natural gas service lines to the new main, following the main crew’s route. The crews will be contacting the residents to schedule any service line replacements.

On both sides of Lowry Avenue NE between McKinley and Cleveland Streets NE, CenterPoint Energy’s “no parking” signs will go in effect beginning Wednesday, July 22 and lasting for the rest of the week while the crews replace the natural gas main under the north sidewalk. During this time, the north sidewalk will be closed. The south sidewalk will be open.

This week, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, are setting up their equipment on Lowry Avenue NE between McKinley and Cleveland Streets NE. In the week of July 20, they will begin replacing the natural gas main, starting at McKinley and working west. During this time, the crews will close the north sidewalk on Lowry Avenue NE and keep the south sidewalk open.

Last evening, CenterPoint Energy hosted a WebEx meeting with residents from the Audubon Park Neighborhood. Among the topics discussed were replacing sidewalks, scheduling appointments with residents to move inside meters outside, working with the City of Minneapolis, and restoring the areas affected by CenterPoint Energy’s work. From the week of July 13 to late fall 2020, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will perform work in Minneapolis’s Audubon Park neighborhood. Michels Corporation will replace natural gas mains, connect natural gas service lines to the installed mains, and move any inside residential meters to the outside of homes. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.
