Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, replaced the natural gas main on 26th Street W. This week, the crews began connecting the natural gas service lines to the new mains on 26th Street W.
Eastbound traffic will remain open on 28th Street W. Westbound traffic will remain open on 26th Street W. On each street, the following traffic plan will happen during active construction: Parking will be restricted on 28th Street W. Sidewalk closures will alternate as needed. Two-way traffic will be maintained heading northbound and southbound on the cross streets. There will be a lane shift on Hennepin Avenue at 28th Street W.
From April 15 to late spring or early summer 2021, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in Minneapolis along 26th Street W. between Dupont and Lyndale Avenues S. and along 28th Street W. between Hennepin and Lyndale Avenues S.
The natural gas work on 26th Street W. is estimated to last for approximately three weeks beginning April 15. The start date for work on 28th Street W. will be updated closer to the project’s start date. The natural gas work on 28th Street W. is estimated to last for approximately three weeks.
While Michels Corporation will replace the natural gas main, connect the natural gas service lines to the new main, and move any inside residential meters outside, Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work outside the limits of the City of Minneapolis’s Street Resurfacing Program.
