CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors have finished the project’s 2020 work. Crews from Q3 Contracting put down winter erosion control in the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. On yards and boulevards, there is straw matting. On the roads and sidewalks, there is temporary asphalt.
In 2021, Q3 Contracting will return for permanent restoration. This will include black dirt and seed on the yards and boulevards. On the sidewalks or roads, this will include concrete or blacktop respectively.

Michels Corporation connected the project’s natural gas service lines to the new mains and put the existing natural gas mains out of service. Q3 Contracting will put down winter erosion control on the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. In 2021, these areas will be permanent restored.

CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will not work from November 26 to 29.
Today, Michels Corporation is removing no parking signs except at the north and south ends of Tyler, Polk and Taylor Streets NE at 18th Avenue NE and south of 18th Avenue NE. On November 30 and December 1, Michels Corporation will perform the final natural gas work and remove their equipment from the site.
Q3 Contracting will put down winter erosion control on the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. In 2021, they will return for permanent restoration.

Natural gas work
CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, finished the project’s natural gas main replacements last week. They also connected the natural gas service lines to the new mains on the east sides of Tyler, Polk and Taylor Streets NE. This week and next, the crews will connect the service lines to the mains on the west sides of these streets. No parking signs will be placed on the west sides when the crews are working there. The crews anticipate that after Thanksgiving, they will finish the project’s natural gas work, which will include putting the existing natural gas mains out of service and removing their equipment from the area.
Restoration

In preparation for the natural gas work, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, are requesting residents on the project to move their cars from the west sides of Tyler and Taylor Streets NE to the east sides of these streets. The crews ask that the residents perform this action between today and 5:00 p.m. tomorrow on Friday, November 13.
Tomorrow morning, the crews have scheduled a few service line connections on the east side of Polk Street NE. Tomorrow afternoon, there will be one service line connection on the west side of Polk Street NE. The crews will post the no parking signs in front of the houses that will have the service line work.
Next week, the crews will connect the service lines to the new mains on the west sides of Tyler, Polk and Taylor Streets NE.
The crews have replaced the natural gas main on the west side of Taylor Street NE and are replacing the main on the west side of Tyler Street NE today. By tomorrow evening, the crew should finish the project’s natural gas main replacements.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will continue to place no parking signs on the sides of streets where active construction is happening. The crews are working according to the following schedule:
Wednesday, November 11:The crews are replacing the natural gas main on the west side of Polk Street NE and connecting the natural gas service lines to the new main on the east sides of Taylor and Tyler Streets NE.
Thursday, November 12:The crews will replace the main on the west side of Taylor Street NE and connect the service lines to the new main on the east side of Polk Street NE.
Friday, November 13:The crews will replace the main on the west side of Tyler Street NE. If necessary, they will continue to connect service lines to the main on Polk Street NE.
Week of November 16:The crews will connect the service lines to the west sides of these streets.

Next week, the crews from Michels Corporation will replace the natural gas mains on the west sides of Tyler, Polk and Taylor Streets NE. That same week, they will also connect the service lines on the east sides of these streets. The anticipated schedule is Taylor Street NE on Tuesday, Tyler Street NE on Wednesday, and Polk Street NE on Thursday.
Crews from Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. Since the weather isn’t conducive for permanent restoration, they will temporarily restore the areas with winter erosion control. In 2021, they will return for permanent restoration.

By tomorrow, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, will have replaced the natural gas mains on the east sides of Tyler, Polk and Taylor Streets NE just south of 18th Avenue NE. This week, they will begin connecting the natural gas service lines to the new mains. Next week, the crews will begin replacing the mains on the west sides of the streets.

Today and tomorrow, a crew from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will replace the natural gas main on the east sides of Tyler, Polk and Taylor Streets NE south of 18th Avenue NE. During this time, the east sidewalks and parking on the east sides will be closed. The west sidewalks and parking will be open.
On Monday, November 2, the crews will begin replacing the mains on the west sides of these streets, beginning with Tyler Street NE, moving east.
Restoration
Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. This year, if the weather isn’t conducive for permanent restoration, Q3 Contracting will temporarily restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work with winter erosion control. In 2021, these areas will be fully restored.
Project Description
Beginning in the week of October 26, lasting into mid-November, and resuming in the spring of 2021, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in Minneapolis along Tyler, Polk and Taylor Streets NE south of 18th Avenue NE. Michels Corporation will replace the natural gas mains and connect the natural gas service lines to the new mains. The crews will work on one side of the road at a time. According to the State of Minnesota’s Cold Weather Rule, the crews will make appointments with residents before connecting their service lines to the new mains between October 15 and April 15.
