Project description: In 2019, CenterPoint Energy began its 17th Avenue S. project and worked between 22nd and 26th Streets E. This year CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will return to complete the project. Crews from Michels Corporation will replace the remaining natural gas mains. Crews from Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work outside the limits of the City of Minneapolis’s Mill and Overlay Project.
Traffic impacts: Beginning the week of April 6, the crews will close two blocks at a time. Each block will be close for two weeks at a time. The crews will begin near Lake Street E. working north to 26th Street E. Parking will not be available on the blocks where active construction is occurring.
For approximately one week beginning April 9, the crews will close eastbound and westbound traffic on 29th Street E. at 17th Avenue S. to perform natural gas work. These restrictions are necessary to keep the public and construction personnel safe. Local access will be maintained through the alleyways.
