Jackson Township - Highway 169

Scheduled Start Date: March 2019

Project Description

Where, when, and why is CenterPoint Energy performing construction?

From September 2018 to January 2019, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, installed natural gas main for CenterPoint Energy’s “Jordan – Highway 169” project. Construction took place along Highway 169, Highway 21, 4th Street West, Mertens Street and 2nd Street West.

For CenterPoint Energy’s Highway 169 project in Jackson Township, the crews installed natural gas mains along selected streets east and west of Highway 169 between Mobil Manor West and approximately half a mile south of 133rd Street West. Construction took place in March and April 2019.

Within the month of July, the crews will install natural gas main along Highway 169 between 145th Street West and approximately one mile south of 150th Street West and along 150th Street West between Highway 169 and Minnesota Valley Bluff Drive.

Also within the month of July, the Michels Corporation crews will remove existing natural gas main along Highway 169 between Highway 41 and 145th Street West.

What are the estimated traffic impacts?

  • Residents and local businesses will have access to their properties.
  • Construction will occur in segments along the construction route, rather than all at once. Lane restrictions are anticipated in areas where active construction is occurring and are necessary to keep both the public and construction personnel safe.
  • CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Q3 Contracting, will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s construction—typically the boulevard, lawn, sidewalk and road.
