In late May, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, installed the natural gas main along Egret Boulevard NW south of Coon Rapids Boulevard. Crews from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, restored these areas affected by Michels Corporation’s construction.
Approximately three miles away along Coon Rapids Boulevard near the Northstar Line railroad, crews from Michels Corporation are installing natural gas main for approximately three more weeks. They are working in the ditch without obstructing traffic. When they are finished with their work, Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by their construction.

Where, when, and why is CenterPoint Energy performing construction?
From the week of April 8 to early June 2019, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, will be replacing natural gas mains in Coon Rapids along Coon Rapids Boulevard (County Road 1) between Drake Street NW and 100th Lane NW and along Egret Boulevard NW south of Coon Rapids Boulevard.
What are the estimated traffic impacts?
- Residents and local businesses will have access to their properties.
- Construction will occur in segments along the construction route, rather than all at once. Lane restrictions are anticipated in areas where active construction is occurring and are necessary to keep both the public and construction personnel safe.
- CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Q3 Contracting, will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s construction—typically the boulevard, lawn, sidewalk and road.
