CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors are finishing the project. Crews from Michels Corporation finished the project’s natural gas work in early July. This included connecting the natural gas service lines to the new mains and putting the existing natural gas mains out of service.

Crews from Q3 Contracting are restoring the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work, including hard and soft surfaces. On the soft surfaces such as boulevards and lawns, various erosion control measures keep the restored area moist, hold seed in the soil, and enhance seed germination. If an erosion blanket is needed it is secured in place with staples. The mesh is a wood fiber that will completely degrade. Prior to mowing the restored area, remove any loose staples that secured the blanket.

We appreciate your patience as we upgrade our natural gas lines, ensuring system reliability for years to come.

Project Description

Beginning on May 24 and lasting into late summer 2021, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in Burnsville along the following roads: Earle Way and 149th Street W.; Crystal Lake Road W. from County Road 5 to just east of Orchard Drive; Hillside Lane from the cul-de-sac at Crystal Lake Road W. to Orchard Drive; 150th Street W. between County Road 5 and Orchard Drive; Orchard Drive between County Road 5 and Crystal Lake Road W.; and Cherry Lane between 150th Street W. and Orchard Drive.

While Michels Corporation will replace the natural gas main, connect the natural gas service lines to the new main, and move any inside residential meters outside, Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.

Traffic Impacts

For most of the project’s duration, there will be lane shifts, some sidewalk closures, and restricted parking in areas of active construction or excavations. The exception will be on County Road 5 just south of 150th Street W. The crews will close the left-turn lane for drivers heading north on County Road 5 and west on 150th Street. Detour signs will lead these drivers to northbound County Road 5, westbound Southcross Drive, and southbound Judicial Road.
