Brooklyn Center - 57th to 59th Ave N, Logan to Colfax Ave N - Project Updates

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, have replaced the project’s natural gas mains. This week, the crews are beginning to connect the natural gas service lines to the new mains, following the main crew’s route.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, have replaced most of the project’s natural gas mains. The remaining mains are on 59th Avenue N. and Humboldt Avenue N. They have been connecting the new mains to the existing intersecting ones.

The crews have been connecting the natural gas service lines to the new mains on Colfax and Emerson Avenues N. In this week and the week of April 12, the crews will connect service lines on Fremont then Girard Avenues N.

By the end of the day on Thursday, March 25, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will have replaced and activated the new natural gas main on Emerson Avenue N. between 57th and 59th Avenues N. They will also have put the new main on half of Fremont Avenue N. and will activate the new main this week or next.

Next week, they will continue working west on the project’s routes.

From March 22 to late spring 2021, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in Brooklyn Center along the following streets: the north side of 59th between Knox and Humboldt Avenues N. and at Colfax Avenue N.; the east side of Logan Avenue N. between Lilac Drive N. and 58th Avenue N. and at 57th Avenue N.; the east side of Knox Avenue N. between 57th and 59th Avenues N.; the east side of James Avenue N. between 58th and 59th Avenues N.; the east side of Irving Avenue N. between 57th and 59th Avenues N.; the west side of Humboldt Avenue N. between 57th and 59th Avenues N.; the east side of Girard Avenue N. between 57th and 59th Avenues N.; the east side of Fremont Avenue N. between 57th and 59th Avenues N.; and the east side of Emerson Avenue N. between 57th and 59th Avenues N.

While Michels Corporation will replace the natural gas main, connect the natural gas service lines to the new main, and move any inside residential meters outside, Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. During this time, lane or parking closures may occur. This is a continuation from CenterPoint Energy’s 2019 and 2020 natural gas line replacements north of 59th Avenue N.
