Bloomington - Washburn to Queen Avenues, 82nd to 84th Streets W. - Project Updates

CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors are progressing. This week, crews from Michels Corporation are connecting the natural gas service lines to the new mains on Vincent and Sheridan Avenues S. They anticipate finishing the service line work early in the week of June 21. Crews from Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, have finished replacing the project’s natural gas mains. By Tuesday, May 18, the crews will have connected the project’s natural gas service lines on Russell Avenue S. and will begin connecting the service lines on Sheridan Place.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, connected the project’s natural gas mains on Queen Avenue S. Today on May 10, the crews are beginning the service line work on Russell Avenue S.

This week, crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will begin connecting the natural gas service lines to the new mains on Queen Avenue S. and 82nd Street W. Starting approximately next week, depending on the crew’s progress, the crews will begin connecting the service lines on Russell Avenue S. They will continue working west, following the main crew’s route. The crew is replacing the natural gas main on 82nd Street W. from Sheridan to Xerxes Avenues S.

The crews have replaced the natural gas main on Sheridan Place and on Queen, Russell, Sheridan and Vincent Avenues S. They have been replacing the main on Thomas Avenue S. The crews are connecting the new mains to the existing intersecting mains. No road or sidewalk closures are occurring at this time. The crews are also connecting the natural gas service lines to the new mains, following the main crew’s route.

Today on April 22, crews from CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, are beginning to replace the project's natural gas main on Queen Avenue S. between 82nd Street W. and Penn Avenue S. and Russell between 82nd and 84th Streets W. They are working west toward Washburn Avenue S.

For most of the project’s duration, two-way traffic will be maintained. Parking will be restricted on both sides of the road where active construction is happening. For a limited time, the crews will close Queen Avenue just north of Penn Avenue without blocking residential driveways. Detour signs will lead drivers to 82nd Street W. and Penn Avenue.

From April 26 into summer 2021, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in Bloomington along the following streets: 82nd Street W. between Xerxes and Sheridan Avenues S.; Vincent, Upton, Thomas, Sheridan, and Russell Avenues S. between 82nd and 84th Streets W.; Queen Avenue S. between 82nd Street W. and Penn Avenue S.; and Washburn Avenue S. at 84th Street W.

While Michels Corporation will replace the natural gas main, connect the natural gas service lines to the new main, and move any inside residential meters outside, Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.
