Annandale - Poplar Street and Highway 24 - Project Updates

What will CenterPoint Energy do?

From early November 2021 to spring 2023, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work in Annandale along Poplar Avenue S. from Elm Street E. (Highway 55) to Park Street (Highway 24) and along Highway 24 from Poplar Avenue S. to 105th Street NW. While Michels Corporation will replace the natural gas mains, Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.


This November 2021, Michels Corporation replaced the main on Poplar Street from Elm Street E. (Highway 55) to Park Street / Highway 24. Q3 Contracting will permanently restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work this year.


In spring 2022, the project’s natural gas main replacements will resume. The main replacement crew will begin on Highway 24 from Poplar Street, working toward 105th Street NW. More information will be provided closer to that portion of the project’s start date.

What should I expect for restoration?

A crew from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will put down winter erosion control on the areas affected by construction. The hard surfaces will have temporary asphalt, including those that were previously concrete. In spring 2022, the crews will restore them to their original condition. On any excavations in boulevards and lawns, they will backfill with dirt and place netting over these areas. In spring 2022, they will return with black dirt and seed.
