Eligible Applicants – Optimize for Good

Optimize for Good is a cohort-based program designed to help nonprofits identify and complete impactful energy efficiency improvements with expert guidance and financial support. Organizations selected for the program will:

  • Work closely with IFF through a structured cohort experience, including orientation, educational sessions, and guided decision-making.
  • Receive a comprehensive energy assessment of their facility (a $5,000 value) to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
  • Select and complete a project from the assessment with support from IFF.
  • Access matching grant funding of up to $25,000 to help complete an approved project (30% match required).
  • Participate in program activities including site visits, meetings, and webinars, and complete the project within the program timeline.
  • Track and share outcomes, including providing utility bill data and completing a post-project report to demonstrate impact.

In addition to program participation, eligible organizations must meet all of the following:

  • Be a standalone 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing mission-based services.
  • Be located within the CenterPoint Energy service area in southwestern Indiana, with both primary operations and service delivery in the region.
  • Operate from a commercial facility (owned or leased) with at least five years remaining on the lease (organizations with shorter terms may request special consideration).
  • Be in good standing, with no delinquent federal or state taxes.

Organizations accepted into th​e program are committing to active participation, completing a project identified through the assessment, and meeting core grant requirements related to funding use, documentation, and reporting.​​​​
