CenterPoint Energy restores power to a million customers impacted by Hurricane Ike

Houston – Sept. 19, 2008 – As of 5:11 p.m., CenterPoint Energy has restored electricity to a million customers. Now, 47 percent of the 2.15 million customers who lost power after Hurricane Ike have been restored.

“In six days, CenterPoint Energy employees and mutual assistance crews have accomplished an enormous task by restoring power to one million customers,” said Kenny Mercado, senior vice president of Electric Operations. “We’re committed to staying focused and working safely to restore power to all remaining customers.”
