HOUSTON – October 3, 2006 - CenterPoint Energy will decrease the gas cost adjustment portion of the natural gas bill beginning this month following a decrease that took effect in August. A similar adjustment will also take effect in other incorporated and rural areas around New Braunfels.
Wholesale natural gas prices have continued to decline over the last few weeks and CenterPoint Energy is passing along lower prices to its customers. The gas cost adjustment is an allowed adjustment to the gas supply charge portion of the natural gas bill and reflects the price CenterPoint Energy pays in the marketplace for natural gas.
The company passes on the cost of natural gas directly to customers with no markup. The adjustment will lower the average City of New Braunfels residential gas bill using 50 Ccf (hundred cubic feet) of natural gas by almost nine percent. This means a bill that was $64.99 will now be $59.34.
“CenterPoint Energy monitors current market conditions and adjusts our prices based on those conditions,” Alicia Dixon, CenterPoint Energy spokesperson said.
