MINNEAPOLIS - October 28, 2010 - CenterPoint Energy recently sponsored a luncheon for 300 volunteers at the Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity - 27th Annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project. During the week, former President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn Carter led hundreds of volunteers in building, rehabilitating and repairing 12 homes in North Minneapolis and St. Paul’s East Side - two neighborhoods in need of safe and stable housing.
“CenterPoint Energy has been partnering and building homes with Habitat for Humanity for 16 years,” said Tal Centers, division regional vice president of Gas Operations for CenterPoint Energy. “We were honored to sponsor and enjoy lunch with the hundreds of volunteers.”
Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter came to Minneapolis as part of their 2010 Work Project, in which volunteers build and renovate homes in partnership with low-income families in Washington D.C.; Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland; and Birmingham, Alabama.
