CenterPoint Energy contribution will help over 900 families in the community

MINNEAPOLIS - December 22, 2010 - CenterPoint Energy employees, retirees and family members volunteered and contributed a $1,700 gift to the Holiday Sharing Tree project this year to help 900 families in the community. The Holiday Sharing Tree is a joint effort by area businesses, local service groups and volunteers, who make it possible for those in need in to receive gifts during the holidays.

“It’s been a real pleasure to see Holiday Sharing Tree grow and for CenterPoint Energy to be a part of it,” said Jean Krause, director of community relations for CenterPoint Energy. “In 1985, the first year of the project, 182 families were helped.  Today, the program helps about 900 families receive gifts they may not have otherwise received. We encourage other businesses and individuals to join us.”

CenterPoint Energy employees have embraced the Holiday Sharing Tree by fulfilling numerous gift requests each year and volunteering to gift wrap, sort and distribute gifts. CenterPoint Energy and its employees regularly donate time and financial resources in an effort to help make our communities a better place to live.
