Volunteerism is important to CenterPoint Energy and its employees, and has long been at the core of our company's culture. While some of our involvement in the community is driven by the company, much is driven by individuals who commit their personal time to causes they care about.
In 2019, our employees, retirees, and their family and friends contributed 146,505 hours of volunteer time in our communities. The value of this service is more than $3.7 million.
Our Volunteer Grant program provides a grant for employees who volunteer 40 or more hours with a single non-profit in a calendar year. In 2019, 276 of our employees and retirees requested grants for the organizations where they generously donated their time.
Created in 1984, CenterPoint Energy's volunteer program unifies the wide-ranging community service activities and projects of our employees.
