Water Heater Leaking Water

If you notice water leaking from the water heater tank itself rather than pipes or valves, your unit needs to be replaced. Water heater tanks cannot be repaired, so we recommend contacting our team to learn more about scheduling an installation of your replacement water heater from Home Service Plus.

Water is Too Cold, Not Warm Enough

Your gas water heater has a thermostat that can be set to regulate the temperature of the water that is sent from the unit to the rooms of your home. Check to see that it is set properly to the desired temperature as some homeowners will change it in accordance with the warmer and cooler months of the year. An improperly set thermostat can also result in your water heater never reaching your desired temperature, so check your water heater owner's manual or the information on the tank for recommended temperature settings.

No Hot Water At All

The first thing to check when experiencing no hot water in your home is your water heater's pilot light. You water heater unit should have a small sight glass or window near the bottom of the unit that allows you to see the pilot burning. If you do not see a small blue flame through the window, you should call in a tech from Home Service Plus to relight the pilot and check for any other issues that may need repair or maintenance. With a larger family home, small tanks often can't keep up with the hot water demand and run out of supply throughout the day. If your hot water still has not recovered after several hours of low usage, contact Home Service Plus to setup a repair visit where our technicians will perform diagnostic checks to uncover the problem.

Discolored or Dirty Water

There are some water heater issues that we recommend you call-in for a technician's assistance rather than try and fix at home. We highly recommend working with an HSP technician to have this professionally resolved. Discolored water throughout your home could be an issue with your water provider, but it could also stem from issues with your water heater's anode rod. If your water company has not informed you of maintenance that would be causing the discolored water, an HSP technician will need to come out to inspect your unit.
