Take advantage of exciting program incentives

CenterPoint Energy's High Efficiency Homes program provides approved homebuilders of high-performance homes with…

  • Financial incentives: We offer multiple ways to earn money back by participating, and you need to meet the requirements of only one method to qualify. Although builders may dispose of the funds however they wish, we recommend they are put toward efficiency improvements to keep up with stricter year-over-year program standards.
  • Energy efficiency training: Program, Operational and Technical Leaders are available to guide homebuilder partners through the lifecycle of the Program.
  • Energy efficiency technical assistance: Free online training workshops and seminars focusing on energy-efficient construction best practices are held at various times throughout the year.
  • Energy efficiency marketing support: Through our advertising and marketing materials, we can help your sales and operations teams promote your energy-efficient work, from communicating the benefits of buying an ENERGY STAR certified home to sharing tips on improving a homes’ energy performance.

How are financial incentives calculated?

Incentives are awarded based on a) achieving above-code energy efficiency certifications, or b) the installation of specified technologies at minimum efficiency levels.

All homes must be RESNET HERS rated to qualify for the program. Additional incentives are available if the home is able to achieve ENERGY STAR or DOE Zero Energy Ready certifications. Participating homes can also earn incentives for installing high-efficiency technology in HVAC systems and insulation as well as bonus incentives for heat pump water heaters, certified ENERGY STAR thermostats, ENERGY STAR EVSE Chargers and more. The program is designed with multiple pathways towards incentives with opportunities for bonus measures.

Simple participation requirements

CenterPoint makes it easy to get started earning incentives through the High Efficiency Homes Program.

You’ll need to build a permitted, high efficiency home within CenterPoint’s distribution territory. You’ll also need to hire a RESNET-approved energy rater to verify the efficiency through testing and inspections, as well as cooperate with information requests from program administrators.

To ensure your incentive applications are successful, you’ll need to coordinate with your energy rater and HVAC contractor to assemble necessary information.
