Scheduled Start Date: November 14, 2016

Project Description

What is CenterPoint Energy doing?

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, will begin construction on the new natural gas pipe along Barry Avenue S. in Wayzata approximately in the week of November 14, 2016. Construction delayed due to weather, resource availability, or municipal agreements with the city.

The crews will be installing 500 feet of natural gas distribution main along the western side of Barry Avenue S. from E. Wayzata Boulevard and E. Rice Street. They will also be installing a new regulator station on the west side of Barry Avenue S. south of Grace Pointe Court. (See map for detail.) Construction is expected to begin approximately in the week of November 14, 2016, and will require about two weeks to complete the work. We will restore the areas affected by our construction in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations.

What does this mean for residents?

There will be total lane closures on northbound and southbound Barry Avenue S. The crews plan to open the northbound and southbound lanes on Barry Avenue S. by Thanksgiving.

Residents on Grace Pointe Court and Wayzata Boulevard will have access to their homes. The crews may also close the sidewalk along the west side of Barry Avenue S. between E. Wayzata Boulevard and E. Rice Street during the entire project. If so, the crews will detour the sidewalk to the east side of Barry Avenue S.

The work will also include the replacement of approximately two natural gas service lines. Representatives from CenterPoint Energy will contact residents whose gas service may be affected to schedule the necessary construction work on their property. In addition, your gas meter will be evaluated and replaced if necessary. If the gas meter is located inside your home or building, we will move it to an outside location.
