12/7/2016 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation and Q3, authorized contractors for CenterPoint Energy, are finishing construction on the Wayzata Boulevard project in St. Louis Park:

  • Michels Corporation finished installing the new natural gas distribution main. It runs from Colorado Avenue S. to Xenia Avenue S. (Park Place Boulevard) near Highway 394. ​
  • Q3 is restoring the areas affected by construction with temporary restoration. In the 2017 construction season, they plan to return to the site with permanent restoration.
  • ​Traffic barriers should be removed by the end of the week of December 5, or into the following week if necessary.

11/29/2016 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, are installing about 1,500 feet of natural gas distribution main along Wayzata Boulevard from Colorado Avenue S. to Xenia Avenue S. (Park Place Boulevard) near Highway 394. ​

Currently, the crews are working at the intersection of Wayzata Boulevard and Colorado Avenue S., connecting the newly-installed main to the existing main. The crews plan to finish installing by about Tuesday, December 6, or later within the week of December 5. 

Crews from Q3, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, will temporarily restore the areas affected by construction, which will happen approximately within the same week. The crews will return to the site in the 2017 construction season to permanently restore the construction area.

11/21/2016 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, are installing about 1,500 feet of natural gas distribution main along Wayzata Boulevard from Colorado Avenue S. to Xenia Avenue S. (Park Place Boulevard) near Highway 394. ​

The crews plan to finish the installation within the week of November 28. Crews from Q3, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, will restore the areas affected by construction approximately within the same week.

11/14/2016 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, have started construction in St. Louis Park on Wayzata Boulevard from Colorado Avenue S. to Xenia Avenue S. (Park Place Boulevard) near Highway 394. ​

  • The crews have shifted traffic to the north on Wayzata Boulevard from Dakota Avenue S. to east of Zarthan Avenue S., maintaining two-way traffic. The crews are working in the southern eastbound lane.

  • ​At times, Wayzata Boulevard may be reduced to one lane. Flaggers will be used during those times.

The construction is anticipated to last until Friday, December 2. The schedule is subject to change based on weather, the availability of resources and the pace of construction.


11/1/2016 Update

Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor for CenterPoint Energy, have delayed the date of construction to the week of November 14, due to weather, resource availability, or municipal agreements with the city. The information regarding project details, length of time and route of construction remains the same.​

The construction is expected to take approximately two to three weeks. The crews are installing about 1,500 feet of natural gas distribution main along Wayzata Boulevard from Colorado Avenue S. to Xenia Avenue S. (Park Place Boulevard) near Highway 394. ​
