  • Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, began replacing the 2019 portion of the project in early October. They have been replacing the natural gas main on Diamond Lake Road, working west from Zanzibar Lane N. to Brockton Lane N. They anticipate finishing the main replacement on Diamond Lake Road by November 1. Afterward, the crews will replace natural gas main on Brockton Lane N. for approximately one week.
  • In the week of November 4, the crews plan to start connecting natural gas service lines to the new main on Diamond Lake Road. The service line connections will last into mid- or late November. As the connections progress, crews from Q3 Contracting, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will begin restoring the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.
  • Two-way traffic is being maintained during active construction. We appreciate your patience as we replace our infrastructure.

5/16/2019
Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will be completing CenterPoint Energy’s S. Diamond Lake Road and Brockton Lane N. project in Dayton this fall 2019. For approximately one month, the crews will be installing natural gas main and connecting natural gas service lines to the installed main along Brockton Lane north of Diamond Lake within the project route. They will also be performing the remainder of the work along Diamond Lake Road west of Diamond Lake Trail.

Please see our Map of Construction for an updated version of the project.

12/12/2018
  • Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, completed the natural gas work for the 2018 portion of this project. Along S. Diamond Lake Road between Brockton Lane N. and past Diamond Lake Trail, they installed the natural gas main and connected the natural gas service lines to the installed main.
  • Crews from Q3 Contracting, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, followed the Michels Corporation crews to temporarily restore the areas affected by their construction. The hard surfaces have been temporarily restored and the soft surfaces will be temporarily restored this month. In 2019 the crews will return to permanently restore these areas.
  • Michels Corporation will return in summer 2019 to finish the natural gas work along Brockton Lane N. north of S. Diamond Lake Road.
  • CenterPoint Energy wants to thank you for your patience during the construction and wish you a Happy Holiday season!

11/30/2018
  • Crews from Michels Corporation, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, have installed the natural gas main along S. Diamond Lake Road between Brockton Lane N. and Diamond Lake Trail. The crews are currently connecting natural gas service lines to the installed main in this area.
  • The crews are also installing natural gas main along S. Diamond Lake Road east of Diamond Lake Trail.
  • When Michels Corporation is finished with its 2018 work, crews from Q3 Contracting, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s construction. Because the weather is unconducive for permanent restoration, Q3 Contracting will place blankets over the affected areas in the boulevard and put temporary asphalt along the affected roads. The crews will come back in spring or summer 2019 to permanently restore these areas.
  • Also in 2019, crews from Michels Corporation will install natural gas main along Brockton Lane N. More details will be added to our website closer to the project’s timeline.

Where, when, and why is CenterPoint Energy performing construction?

  • Beginning on Friday, November 16, and ending within December 2018, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, will be replacing natural gas mains and connecting natural gas service lines to the installed mains in Dayton along S. Diamond Lake Road between Brockton Lane N. (County Road 13) and just east of Diamond Lake Trail.
  • In 2019 Michels Corporation will install natural gas main along Brockton Lane N. just north of S. Diamond Lake Road. In this area they will connect the natural gas service lines to the installed main. More details will be added to our website closer to the project’s timeline.
  • Crews from Q3 Contracting, an authorized CenterPoint Energy contractor, will restore the areas affected by CenterPoint Energy’s construction—typically the utility easement, the street, and the customer’s yard. If restoration is not finished in 2018 because the weather is unconducive for permanent restoration, Q3 Contracting will temporarily restore the hard and soft surfaces affected by Michels Corporation’s construction. Q3 Contracting will return in the spring and summer 2019 construction season to permanently restore these areas.

What are the estimated traffic impacts?

  • Two-way traffic will be maintained along S. Diamond Lake Road east of Diamond Lake Trail. Traffic control personnel will be on site.
  • Between Brockton Lane and Diamond Lake Trail, the crews have closed S. Diamond Lake Road to through traffic. Local access is maintained. Detour signs will be on site.
  • Construction will occur in segments along the construction route, rather than all at once. Lane restrictions are anticipated in areas where active construction is occurring and are necessary to keep both the public and construction personnel safe.

How may the natural gas service line installations affect customers?

  • As part of this main project, the crews will be replacing several natural gas service lines that connect from the main to the customer’s property. Customers will experience a short disruption of gas service as the crews are installing the gas service line.
  • Crews may have to dig in the ground on your property in the utility easement to complete the task of service and main distribution line replacement. If a customer’s property is disturbed, CNP will restore the hard and soft surfaces affected by construction at no cost to you.
