To ensure the continued safety and integrity of CenterPoint Energy’s natural gas transmission system, CenterPoint Energy is required by the Department of Transportation pipeline safety regulations to assess and evaluate the condition of our pipelines.
CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, along with certified pipeline inspectors, will perform nine assessments on pipeline segments that are located along Nicollet Avenue S. just north and south of I-494.
Construction is anticipated to start on Tuesday, October 6 and will continue for approximately three to four weeks. Construction will begin at the south half of the Nicollet Avenue S. bridge. The entrance ramp to eastbound I-494 and the E 78th Street frontage road will be closed for 1.5 weeks. Construction on the north half will follow, with the exit ramp to westbound I-494 closing for the remaining 2 weeks.
