Where, when, and why is CenterPoint Energy performing construction?

From the week of June 3 or 10 to mid-July 2019, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Michels Corporation, will be replacing an existing natural gas distribution main with modern materials in Richfield.

Project construction will occur along Thomas Avenue S. between W. 76th Street and W. 78th Street. This area will be closed to through traffic. Detour signs will be on site. Local access will be maintained to and from residences. Parking will be prohibited on both sides of Thomas Avenue S. during construction.

W. 77th Street will be open to eastbound and westbound traffic for the majority of the project. When the crews install the natural gas main across it, they will close eastbound and westbound traffic for approximately a few business days.

These closures are necessary to keep both the public and construction personnel safe. CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, Q3 Contracting, will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s construction.
