Northwestern Part of Minnetonka - Project Updates

CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors are finishing CenterPoint Energy’s natural gas line replacements project in the northwestern part of Minnetonka on Woodhill Drive and nearby streets.

While Michels Corporation finished replacing the project’s natural gas lines, Q3 Contracting has been following to restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.

The gas crews backfilled the excavated areas with dirt or gravel. On boulevards and lawns, the restoration crews will refill the areas with black dirt, grass seed, and netting that degrades over about four months. Prior to mowing the restored area, remove any loose staples that secured the blanket.

Crews from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, replaced the natural gas lines on Lennell Drive. This included replacing the natural gas main, moving inside meters outside, and replacing and/or reconnecting the service lines to the new main.

In the weeks of July 10 and 17, a Michels Corporation crew will replace the natural gas main under the west sidewalk of Woodhill Road between Lake Street Extension and Highway 7, in addition to Tonka Downs Drive, Woodhill Terrace, Wildcrest Road, and Karyl Drive. During this time, parking will be restricted on the west side of Woodhill Road in this area. The crew doesn’t anticipate any road closures on this project.

In the week of July 17, another Michels Corporation crew will begin working on the service lines and meters on Woodhill Road, Tonka Downs Drive, and Woodhill Terrace, following the main replacement crew. Traffic impacts will include flashers and cones around work vehicles; the crews will maintain two-way traffic.

In the week of June 19, a crew from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will replace the natural gas main under the boulevard on the north side of Lennell Drive. They anticipate that the main replacement on this road will take approximately one week. During this time, parking will be restricted on the north side of Lennell Drive in this area.

Another Michels Corporation crew will be working throughout the project’s route to replace the gas mains. They will start on the project’s north end and work south.

For several months starting Monday, June 19, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work along select streets in the northwestern part of Minnetonka. Equix Integrity updates our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. Michels Corporation will replace natural gas mains, replace or reconnect service lines as needed, and move inside meters to the outside of homes. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work. Parking or lane closures may occur.
