CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors plan to finish the project by the end of October. Below is the anticipated timeline:

By late September, Michels Corporation plans to finish replacing the project’s natural gas lines.

By late October, Q3 Contracting plans to restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work.

Due to the rocky ground, the project is taking longer than expected. We deeply appreciate your patience as we’re working as efficiently as we’re able to.

As the gas crews finish their work on each block, they will backfill the excavated areas with dirt or gravel. On boulevards and lawns, the restoration crews will refill the areas with black dirt, grass seed, and netting that degrades over about four months. Prior to mowing the restored area, remove any loose staples that secured the blanket.

We thank you very much for your patience as we upgraded our natural gas infrastructure.

In the week of August 7, a crew from Michels Corporation, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractor, will replace the natural gas main under the north boulevard of 4th Avenue W. between Clay Street S. and Atwood Street S. They anticipate that the main replacement on this road will take approximately two weeks. During this time, parking will be restricted on the north side of 4th Avenue W. in this area.

What will CenterPoint Energy do?

For approximately two months beginning in mid-July, CenterPoint Energy’s authorized contractors will work along select streets in Shakopee. Equix Integrity will update our records on the locations of sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. Michels Corporation will replace natural gas mains, move inside meters to the outside of homes, and replace or reconnect service lines as needed. Q3 Contracting will restore the areas affected by Michels Corporation’s work. There will be no assessment or cost associated with our work.
