​​Natural Gas Line Upgrades in New Prague – Project Updates

As of April 30, all utility construction associated with this project is complete. Restoration of all affected areas will begin in the next few weeks.

4/16/2025

Work to install the new natural gas main is complete. A service crew is in the area connecting new and existing service lines to the new main. If you have an indoor meter, you will be contacted to schedule a time for the crew to move your meter to the outside of your home.


At this time, we expect several more weeks of service work.

4/8/2025

Utility crews began installing the natural gas main in New Prague last week and are expecting to be complete by Friday, April 11. Work is currently taking place on Pershing Avenue North.


Traffic flaggers are present at intersections throughout and nearby the work zone. Street parking is restricted on both sides of the street. The west sidewalk on Pershing Avenue North is closed while the east sidewalk remains open.


Following the completion of the gas main installation, a crew will come on site to move indoor meters outside, and to replace and connect service lines to the new main in the street. Service work is estimated to last a few weeks.

Natural gas construction updates

For a few months beginning early this April, CenterPoint Energy will replace natural gas infrastructure in New Prague. Updates regarding the utility crew's location, traffic impacts and other details will be posted here regularly.


Before construction begins, an authorized contractor will be in the area to locate sewer lines in relation to natural gas lines. This is an important safety measure CenterPoint is required to take. It is possible a technician performing this work will need to access your home to locate sewer lines. Ask to see CenterPoint Energy identification before letting anyone in your home.
